Why I Practice Estate Planning

I've been practicing estate planning law in Colorado for more than 23 years. What keeps me here — doing this work, in this community — is something pretty simple: most people don't know what they're missing until something goes wrong, and my job is to make sure it doesn't.

Estate planning isn't a document. It's a conversation about who you trust, what you want for your family, and what happens if life doesn't go the way you planned. I've had those conversations with hundreds of Colorado families. Every one of them is different, and the plan we put together is different too.

I hold a J.D. from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver. That advanced tax law degree matters for clients whose estates involve retirement accounts, business interests, or anything where the financial structure of the plan affects what their family actually receives.

Before I opened my own practice, I spent years building experience across [prior background — complete with Nicole's bio guide input]. Seven years ago, I went out on my own because I wanted to practice differently — one client at a time, with no one between me and the people I'm helping

You'll Always Work Directly with Me

Most law firms have layers. You meet with a partner, your work gets assigned to an associate, and a few weeks later you're signing documents you haven't had a real conversation about.

That's not how I work.

When you call, I answer. When you come in for your consultation, you sit down with me. When your documents are ready, I walk through each one with you and explain what it does and why it matters for your situation — before you sign anything.

I'm a solo practitioner. That means I take on a caseload I can actually manage, and every client gets real attention. If you have a question six months after your plan is signed, you call me. Not a general inbox. Not a receptionist who takes a message. Me.

That's something clients mention a lot when they refer someone to me. It's not a policy — it's just how I practice.
